Jaime Smith is a world-renown sommelier who sees colors when he tastes wine.
Building Bridges Art Exchange hosted a talk and wine tasting, on November 5, 2017, with synaesthete sommelier, Jaime Smith, from the Four Seasons in Las Vegas. Jamie sees different color spectrums, shapes, and textures for each wine he tastes as well as color patterns for each scent he experiences.
During the event, Jaime shared his experience with wine making and tasting. We then had a drink-and-draw with six fine wines. For each wine, Jaime drew the colors and textures he saw. The guests did the same using crayons and sketch pad. After each wine people shared the colors they experienced in tasting each wine and then shared their amazing artwork.
Jaime Smith was introduced to Building Bridges by the wonderful synaesthete author and writer, Maureen Seaberg. To follow is Maureen’s insightful interview with Jaime Smith on her Psychology Today blog, Sensorium:
